Exterior painting in Indianapolis

Around Indianapolis we paint aluminum-sided ranches from the 1960s, wood-sided craftsman homes in the older neighborhoods and vinyl-clad new builds in the suburbs. Each surface has its own prep and its own weak spots, so we look at the house before we price it. The estimate reflects what your house needs.

Freeze and thaw cracks caulk and pushes paint off siding. Summer humidity makes paint fail when the surface is not dry and primed. An exterior that is prepped right holds up for years. One that is not starts peeling before the first winter is over.

1. Power wash. The whole surface is washed first.
2. Repair. Rotted wood is replaced before any paint goes on.
3. Scrape and sand. Loose paint comes off and edges are feathered smooth.
4. Prime. Bare spots get primer where they need it.
5. Two full coats. Applied and back-rolled or brushed, so the paint is worked into the surface instead of sitting on top of it.

August through October are the driest months of the exterior season in Indianapolis, about 3.2 inches of rain a month against nearly 5 in May and June (NOAA 1991 to 2020 normals). That makes late summer and fall the easiest window for exterior work. Spring jobs happen too. We just plan around more wet days.

What does the warranty cover?

We back exterior work with a 10-year labor warranty. If there is chipping, peeling or excessive fading, we come back and correct it at no charge.

How long does an exterior job take?

Most exterior projects take several days to a week, depending on the size of the house and the weather.

Can you paint vinyl siding?

Yes. Vinyl can be painted with the right prep and flexible coatings that move with the siding as the temperature changes.

Do you work with HOAs on colors?

Yes. Many neighborhoods require color approval before exterior work starts. We can help you through the process and provide the documentation.

Do you replace rotted wood?
